The guild banks show up as purple icons on the map. It's probably similar for republic.Plenty of them have no in-game way to oust an absentee guild leader(1)(2), and plenty of those ones *also* have important things that only the guild leader can do. This tends to mean that if the guild leader goes AWOL, the guild dies.
